Superfluidity in Solids and Ultracold Gases (MultiSuper2020) - workshop postponed

Workshop | Monday, September 28, 2020 - Friday, October 02, 2020
Directors:
Vanderlei Bagnato (USP - Sao Carlos)
Mauro Doria (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro)
Milorad Milosevic (Universiteit Antwerpen)
Andrea Perali (University of Camerino)

OVERVIEW

The standard picture of superconductors and superfluids is based on the existence of a single quantum condensate, but recent advances in material science and ultracold atoms opened a paradigm of multicomponent quantum fluids. New directions in this multifacetted and booming field are opened by emergent 2D materials, heterostructures, multiorbital materials, and ultracold atomic mixtures, in which superconductivity and superfluidity are readily realized, and where links between observed quantum effects can be made and knowledge can be cross-fertilized. This MultiSuper conference is aimed to help understand, quantify, and manipulate the effects of hybridization between multiple condensates in a single system, as a pathway to yet unseen quantum phenomena. The key experts are thus assembled biannually, to present and interpret state-of-the-art experiments and theory, and advance fundamental physics and material science in this field.

THE MAIN TOPICS OF THE CONFERENCE ARE:

  • Novel quantum phenomena in multicomponent superconductors and superfluids;
  • Competing orders in multicomponent quantum systems;
  • Multicomponent superconductivity and superfluidity in 2D materials and heterostructures;
  • Topological effects in multicomponent quantum systems;
  • Vortical and skyrmionic states in multicomponent quantum fluids;
  • Quantum tech based on hybrid superconducting and superfluid systems.

AIRPORT INFORMATION:

The nearest airport is located 40 min drive away from Natal, in the city of São Gonçalo do Amarante.

It has domestic routes with the mainly airports in Brazil such as GIG (Rio de Janeiro), BSB (Brasilia), GRU (Sao Paulo), it also has International Routes with Lisbon Airport (TAP Portugal) and Buenos Aires (Gol Airlines).

To reach Natal, from the airpoirt, you will be able to hire a taxi transfer, shuttle or even apps (UBER and 99 pop) at the airport. The IIP event staff will also offer private transfer, information about this service will be sent over e-mail to the registered participants.

ACCOMMODATION:

The speakers and participants, who will have accommodation support from IIP, will stay in the neighborhood of Ponta Negra.

It`s also suggested that every participant stays in the same area, once there will be a bus (every conference day) to take the participants to the IIP, where the conference takes place.
